Stephanie Haney is an National Emmy-winning journalist, who is currently the Digital Anchor and Legal Analyst for NBC 3 in Cleveland, a TEGNA station produced out of wkyc studios. She hosts a twice-daily podcast and digital livestream called “3News Now with Stephanie Haney,” in addition to producing and hosting the “Legally Speaking” legal analysis segment, the “Clicking in Cleveland” trending stories segment and the “Pop Break” entertainment news segment as part of the 5 p.m. “What’s New” TV team.
She comes home to Northeast Ohio by way of the nationally syndicated news magazine show DailyMailTV, which won the award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program at the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, filmed in New York City and produced by Stage 29 Productions. As a lawyer with a naturally inquisitive mind, she’s uniquely qualified to cover everything from the latest legal headlines to politics, health and wellness, pop culture, and entertainment.
Her additional on-camera credits include hosting roles on CBS (Undercover Boss) and The Travel Channel (Sturgis: Biker Madness), a series regular role on E! (The Drama Queen), and guest appearances on OWN, TNT, Spike, NFL Network, Fox Sports, and The History Channel.
Following earning her Master of Science in Journalism from the University of Southern California, graduating magna cum laude as an Annenberg Fellow, Stephanie produced for ABC’s Good Morning America in the Field and Series department, in addition to working on Diane Sawyer’s “American Dream” project.
She’s published in The Los Angeles Times, with cover stories featured in print in both Playboy Magazine (“The Campus Consent Crisis” on Title IX and sexual assault on college campuses) and LA Weekly (“The Brave New World Of Embryo Adoption” on the science that allowed a 51-year-old woman to give birth to twins). She regularly writes feature stories for DailyMail.com, POPSUGAR and other outlets.
Stephanie is also the co-creator, co-executive producer and co-host of the Sassy and Uncalled For podcast, where she talks with experts and everyday individuals about issues like how to properly negotiate a contract for equal pay, what birth control is really doing to our bodies, and the always-popular topic of dating and relationships. The podcast can be found on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify and SoundCloud with live streams of the recording sessions shared on Facebook and YouTube.
She’s developed, produced, shot, edited and hosted several of her own web series, including Sidebar with Stephanie, where she brings her point of view to current events and social issues, often highlighting legal trending topics. Stephanie is constantly developing new series and segments, which can be found on her personal YouTube channel and verified Facebook page.
Originally from Canton, Ohio, Stephanie is licensed to practice law in both Ohio and California. She moved to Los Angeles after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. While in LA, she also studied improvisation at The Upright Citizens Brigade.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University, cum laude, where she double-majored in both Political Science and Sociology/Criminology. She studied comparative politics abroad in Wales, UK, working as a research assistant for the Welsh National Assembly’s Labour Party.
Driven by a desire to bring people information that empowers and uplifts, Stephanie works to amplify the voices of others, raise awareness about overlooked issues and demand accountability of people in positions of power and influence, while approaching every story and source with empathy and understanding. Her knowledge of the law and passion for justice combines seamlessly with her awareness of popular culture, which is more relevant than ever due to the fact that so many stories have a legal and social angle.
