Rebecca Kirkman

A freelance writer and editor living in Baltimore, I am the assistant director for strategic communications at Towson University and a contributing writer at Baltimore magazine. Formerly, I was the associate editor of BeerAdvocate magazine. I grew up in Portland, Ore., headed south to Los Angeles for college, and have lived in Charm City since 2012. Whatever the media, I’m passionate about telling stories that matter in a thoughtful and engaging way. My writing and editing work has been published in local, regional and national publications.

I have a bachelor’s degree in print and digital journalism from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a graduate certificate in multimedia journalism from the Phillip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park. I anticipate earning my M.S. in communication management from Towson University in spring 2023.

When I’m not writing, I’m most likely enjoying the outdoors or seeking out a pint at a local craft brewery.
