Raisa Zaidi got her first taste of reporting in Beirut while writing stories at The Daily Star Lebanon. She has spent the last five years with Al Jazeera English in Washington, D.C., where she split her time working to evolve digital strategy and producing live TV news episodes. At “The Stream”, an online community-driven talk show on the network, Raisa meshed her love for interactive storytelling, while helping to amplify the voices of communities in some of the most underreported regions. In 2012, she was a producer on a short documentary that was nominated for a news Emmy. Raisa is a 2017 New York Festivals Silver World Medal winner for one of the episodes she produced with her team at “The Stream”. She majored in political science from UCLA, and has a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She tweets at @raisazaidi.
