During her time at USC, Marissa double majored in Broadcast & Digital Journalism and Spanish. At ATVN she worked many different positions – assignment editor, video journalist, graphics, sports producer, sports anchor, and producer. After graduating magna cum laude, she went on to complete a two year Teach For America commitment in Newark, NJ teaching first grade.
At the completion of her time teaching with TFA, Marissa joined Carnival Cruise Line as an Entertainment Host; her work on camera as a video journalist with ATVN provided key skills for her work as a cruise ship entertainment team member. Marissa then became Carnival’s first Media Manager, a job in which she used many of the journalism and media skills honed at Annenberg to manage written, digital, and video media on board.
In 2016, Marissa was promoted to the role of Entertainment Director at Carnival. In 2019, Marissa transitioned to Entertainment Director at Princess Cruises, one of Carnival’s sister cruise lines. As the head of the Entertainment department on board one of Princess’s 14 cruise ships, Marissa is responsible for the Entertainment programming, scheduling and revenue, and she manages a team of more than 85 crew members.
